Title

AN ORDINANCE authorizing the provision of geographic information system services to external customers; and amending Ordinance 14270, Section 2, as amended, and K.C.C. 4A.200.320.

PREAMBLE:

The original ordinance, Ordinance 14270, that established the geographic information system fund authorized the provision of services to county agencies and external customers.

The geographic information system fund has continuously provided services to external customers on a one hundred percent-cost-reimbursable basis.

The geographic information system fund provides valuable regional services to external customers on a cost-reimbursable basis.

The provision of services to external customers establishes the county as a leader in regional geographic information services that benefits county agencies.

                     BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

                     SECTION 1.  Ordinance 14270, Section 2, as amended, and K.C.C. 4A.200.320 are each hereby amended to read as follows:

                     A.  There is hereby created the geographic information systems fund.

                     B.  The fund shall be a second-tier fund.  It is an internal service fund.

                     C.  The director of the department of information technology shall be the manager of the fund.

                     D.  All receipts from rates charged for the fund's services to county agencies and external customers shall be deposited in the fund.

                     E.  The purpose of the fund is to coordinate, operate, maintain and enhance the automated geographic information systems that serve both county agencies and external customers.

                     F.  The fund is authorized to enter into service contracts with all city, county,

regional, state, special district, tribal and federal agencies, nonprofit corporations and private customers for the purpose of providing geographic information system services.
