A MOTION accepting the executive's plan for implementing best standards and practices for the handling, dispensing, security and record keeping of controlled substances at King County's animal care and control shelters.

      WHEREAS, King County is striving to implement a model humane animal services program, reduce rates of animal euthanasia and prevent animal cruelty, and
      WHEREAS, King County operates a veterinary clinic and provides for the health and wellness of animals housed within the county's animal care and control shelters, and
      WHEREAS, King County Ordinance 16312 directed the executive to develop a plan to implement best standards and practices for the handling, dispensing, security and records keeping of controlled substances at King County's animal care and control shelters, and
      WHEREAS, the executive has developed a plan to implement the new standards and procedures in the veterinary clinic and shelter, and
      WHEREAS, the executive has indicated that shelter and clinic staff are already following the new procedures;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The executive's response to Ordinance 16312, Section 27, Proviso P4, of the records and licensing services division, department of executive services, which is Attachments A and B to this motion, is hereby accepted and approved.
