AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute an amendment to the interlocal agreement with the King County flood control zone district extending the duration of the interlocal agreement through December 31, 2019; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. Findings:
A. King County and the King County Flood Control Zone District have entered into the Interlocal Agreement Between King County and the King County Flood Control Zone District Regarding Flood Protection Services, effective January 1, 2016.
B. The county and the district desire to amend the interlocal agreement to extend its term from December 31, 2018 to December 31, 2019.
C. The first amendment to the interlocal agreement, Attachment A to this ordinance, amends the interlocal agreement to extend its term through December 31, 2019.
D. Immediate approval of the amendment to the interlocal agreement is necessary so that the county can continue to provide flood protection services and to implement the district's work plan for the year 2019.
SECTION 2. The county executive is hereby authorized to execute an amendment to the Interlocal Agreement Between King County and the King County Flood Control Zone District Regarding Flood Protection Services, substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance. All other provisions of the interlocal agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. The county council finds as a fact and declares that an emergency exists and that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of public peace,
health or safety or for the support of county government and its existing public institutions.
