Title
A MOTION related to the transfer of retired vanpool vans to nonprofit organizations and local governments to meet the needs of low-income, elderly, disabled and young county citizens.
Body
WHEREAS, King County provides transit services to its citizens to increase mobility options and reduce traffic congestion and related environmental degradation, and
WHEREAS, the provision of passenger vans to groups serving individuals with limited resources and mobility options will support those goals and provide significant public benefits, and
WHEREAS high-quality passenger vans retaining substantial value and utility are periodically retired from the 'county's vanpool program, and
WHEREAS, the metropolitan King County council has previously transferred retired vans to agencies serving low-income, elderly, disabled and young people, and
WHEREAS, the council provided for the transfer of twenty-seven additional vans in the 2006 Metro transit division budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The donation of a retired vanpool passenger van to each of the following agencies is hereby approved:
The Auburn Food Bank,
Black Diamond Community Center,
Cascade Bicycle Club,
C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation,
CD Panthers,
City of Burien Park and Recreation Department,
The Compass Center,
Consejo Counseling and Referral Services,

EX3 Ron Sandwich Teen Center,
