AN ORDINANCE authorizing the county executive to execute an amendment to the 2000 interlocal agreement relating to fire investigation services between King County and the cities of Beaux Arts, Burien, Covington, Kenmore, Maple Valley, Newcastle, North Bend, Sammamish, SeaTac, Shoreline, Skykomish and Woodinville, to account for the move of the fire investigations unit from the King County department of development and environmental services to the King County sheriff's office.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1. The cities of Beaux Arts, Burien, Covington, Kenmore, Maple Valley, Newcastle, North Bend, Sammamish, SeaTac, Shoreline, Skykomish and Woodinville and the county entered into an interlocal agreement relating to law enforcement services, which included provision for fire investigation services, effective in 2000.
2. The fire investigations unit that provides fire investigations service in accordance with the interlocal agreement was moved from the fire marshal's office in the King County department of development and environmental services to the King County sheriff's office effective January 1, 2008, in accordance with Ordinance 15921.
3. The proposed amendment accounts for the fire investigations unit move from the department of development and environmental services to the sheriff's office.
4. Amendments to the 2000 interlocal agreement approved by this ordinance are authorized by the Interlocal Cooperation Act, chapter 39.34 RCW.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY
SECTION 1. The county executive is hereby authorized to execute an amendment to the 2000 interlocal agreement, substantially in the form attached to this ordinance, relating to fire investigation services between King County and the cities of Beaux Arts, Burien, Covington, Kenmore, Maple Valley, Newcastle, North Bend, Sammamish, SeaTac, Shoreline, Skykomish and Woodinville, to account for the move of
the fire investigations unit from the King County department of development and environmental services to the King County sheriff's office.
