Title
A MOTION confirming three corrected appointments for the King County cultural development authority (4Culture) board of directors; and rescinding Motion 16043, Motion 16451, and Motion 16494.
Body
WHEREAS, the metropolitan King County council adopted Ordinance 14482 in 2002, which established the King County cultural development authority, 4Culture, to continue support for cultural resources, including arts, heritage, historic preservation, and public art, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 14482 and the 4Culture Charter require the King County council to confirm appointments to the 4Culture board of directors by motion, and
WHEREAS, the council adopted Ordinance 18684 in 2018, which amended the 4Culture charter and bylaws to change the board of directors appointment process to require specific councilmembers to appoint nine specific board positions, and
WHEREAS, after Ordinance 18684, the numeric positions of the board of directors did not correspond to the council district number of the councilmember responsible for making the appointment, and
WHEREAS, the council adopted Ordinance 19036 in 2019, which amended the 4Culture charter and bylaws to change the position numbers of council-appointed board positions to correspond to the council district number of the councilmember responsible for making the appointment, and
WHEREAS, the 2019 changes to the numeric board positions were not reflected in three motions confirming appointments of three board members, which resulted in those board members being appointed to incorrect board positions, and
WHEREAS, Motion 16043, passed on February 22, 2022, confirmed Afua Kouyate, who was appointed from council district two, to an unspecified Board Position, and
WHEREAS, Motion 16451, passed on October 24, 2023, confirmed Staci Adman, who was reappointed from council district one, to Board Position 6, and
