Title
A MOTION to support recommendations to the Washington state Board on Geographic Names for the naming of several creeks in or near the city of Redmond.
Body
WHEREAS, the Washington state Board on Geographic Names has solicited input on the proposed naming of five small waterways in east King County, and
WHEREAS, the unnamed creek that joins the Sammamish river at Marymoor park will be considered by the Board on Geographic Names for designation as Clise creek after the Clise family, which owned the three hundred five acres that eventually became Marymoor park, and
WHEREAS, the creek often referred to as Idylwood creek in planning documents, newsletters and interpretive signs, and that runs through Idylwood park on the western shore of Lake Sammamish, will be considered by the Board on Geographic Names for designation as Idylwood Creek and
WHEREAS, the creek known generally as Peters creek, which flows from the hills just west of Redmond's downtown and east into the Sammamish river, will be considered by the Board on Geographic Names for designation as Peters creek, and
WHEREAS, the creek that flows from the western hills above the Sammamish River valley, nearby the historic community referred to as "Willows" on federal maps, and eventually into the Sammamish river, will be considered by the Board on Geographic Names for designation as Willows creek, and
WHEREAS, the creek that begins in Redmond's Hartman park flowing eventually into Bear creek, and runs through the historic Perrigo family homestead in Redmond, will be considered by the Board on Geographic Names for designation as Perrigo creek, and
WHEREAS, several of these creeks have been the focus of restoration efforts by the city of Redmond intended to improve their habitat and water quality values, and are currently used as habitat by Pacific salmon, trout, beaver, waterfowl and songbirds, and
