WHEREAS, Washington State University Cooperative Extension Service ("WSU Extension") has had a long term partnership with, and has provided valuable services for, King County citizens, and
WHEREAS, the King County council recognizes the valued and long-standing relationship between King County government and the WSU Extension in support of this partnership, and
WHEREAS, county revenue traditionally used to support WSU Extension's relationship with King County government is under significant fiscal pressure, and
WHEREAS, there are many high-priority competing needs for all King County funds, and
WHEREAS, the King County council passed a budget proviso requesting that the department of natural resources and parks report steps taken or planned by the executive to maintain the valued and long-standing relationship between King County and the WSU Extension including an evaluation of potential nonmonetary, in-kind support that may be provided to the WSU Extension, as well as ways to coordinate with and assist WSU in efforts to obtain and leverage grants from outside resources, and
WHEREAS, King County is currently supporting the WSU Extension 4-H program; and
WHEREAS, WSU Extension is implementing in partnership with Seattle-King County Department of Public Health, local school districts and parks departments several successful grant funded partnerships for its Youth and Healthy Living program;
