A MOTION acknowledging the receipt of a transit-oriented development feasibility report for the Shoreline Park & Ride.

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 19210, Section 113, Proviso P8, directed the Metro transit department to conduct a transit-oriented development feasibility study, identify encumbrances or issues that could preclude transit-oriented development, conduct community engagement and develop a set of community goals for a future transit-oriented development, including affordable housing, and

                     WHEREAS, Metro's Equitable Transit Oriented Communities policy directs Metro to regularly evaluate their properties to identify opportunities for transit-oriented development, and

                     WHEREAS, Metro's Strategic Plan identifies transit-oriented development as a goal, and

                     WHEREAS, King County's Strategic Climate Action Plan identifies transit-oriented development as a cost-effective strategy to advance county climate goals, and

                     WHEREAS, King County's Equity and Social Justice Strategic Plan identifies providing affordable housing near transit service, and

                     WHEREAS, the Metro transit department anticipates that the Shoreline Park & Ride will see reduced service and associated parking demand beginning in 2024, and

                     WHEREAS, the Metro transit department found that transit-oriented development, including affordable housing is feasible at the Shoreline Park & Ride;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     That the King County council has received a transit-oriented development feasibility report of the Shoreline Park & Ride.  The report identifies a list of encumbrances and issues that affect the feasibility of transit-oriented development, including affordable housing, possible solutions for those issues, a list of community goals developed during a public engagement process and next steps to be taken by the Metro transit department, the department of community and human services and the city of Shoreline needed to advance a project concept

for transit-oriented development including affordable housing at the Shoreline Park & Ride.
