AN ORDINANCE authorizing the King County executive to execute an interlocal agreement with King County fire district 50 for commercial fire inspections within the boundary of Skykomish city limits.

      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
      SECTION 1.  Findings:
      A.  In 2008, King County fire district 50 approached King County and requested a contract for providing annual commercial fire inspections within the city limits of Skykomish.
      B.  Skykomish city limits are within the jurisdiction of King County fire district 50.
      C.  Annual commercial fire inspections have not previously been conducted within Skykomish city limits by any government entity.
      D.  King County fire district 50 desires to carry out its mission to provide public safety and fire protection in all areas within its jurisdiction as efficiently and effectively as possible.
      E.  The county has a long history of providing quality regional services to smaller incorporated governments.
      F.  The King County fire marshal's office provides a full range of fire and life safety inspections and reviews.
      G.  King County fire district 50 has the financial resources to reimburse King County for the provision of this service.
      H.  The county and King County fire district 50, although separate legal entities, share the common goal of helping to protect the citizens of the county from fire hazards.
      I.  The commission for King County fire district 50 approved the attached interlocal agreement for provision of annual commercial fire inspection services in November 2008.
      SECTION 2.  The county executive is hereby authorized to execute an interlocal agreement, substantially in the form of Attachment A to this ordinance,
 
with King County fire district 50 for the provision of annual commercial fire inspection services.
