A MOTION authorizing the publication and distribution of a local voters' pamphlet in conjunction with a special election.

WHEREAS, the citizens of King County have created the elective office of county director of elections, and
WHEREAS, the selection of the elected county director of elections will be held by a special election to be held on February 3, 2009, and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to inform as many of the voters of the area eligible to vote in the election about the issues for which they will be casting ballots, and
WHEREAS, K.C.C. 1.10.010 provides that the council may, pursuant to RCW 29.81A.020, authorize the publication and distribution of a local voters' pamphlet for special elections as it so determines;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The manager of the elections division of King County is hereby authorized and requested to prepare and distribute a local voters' pamphlet in conjunction with the special election on February 3, 2009, the cost of the pamphlet to be included as part of the cost of the election.
