AN ORDINANCE related to the department of judicial administration fees; and adding a new section to K.C.C. 4.83.

      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
      SECTION 1.  A.  Section 2 of this ordinance authorizes the department of judicial administration to charge a fee for providing working papers to superior court judicial officers.
      B.  Section 3 of this ordinance adds a new section to K.C.C. chapter 4.83.
      SECTION 2.  A.  The department of judicial administration is hereby authorized to assess a fee for providing working papers to the superior court when filing parties submit those papers electronically to the clerk for delivery to the court.
      B.  Working papers submitted in paper form will continue to be accepted without charge.
      C.  Certain working papers may be submitted electronically, pursuant to local rule.  The working papers fee is for the clerk to prepare and provide the working papers to the superior court.
      NEW SECTION.  SECTION 3.  There is hereby added to K.C.C. chapter 4.83 a new section to read as follows:
      A.  The department of judicial administration is hereby authorized to assess and collect a fee for preparing and providing copies of documents to the court.  This fee only applies when documents have been electronically submitted to the clerk by parties who wish to have copies provided to the respective judicial officer.
      B.  The fee assessed shall be twenty dollars per submission.
      C.  The department of judicial administration shall establish a procedure for the
 
collection of the fee.
      SECTION 4.  This ordinance takes effect January 1, 2009
