Title
A MOTION authorizing the King County executive to accept public donations to fund the countywide community forums program.
Body
WHEREAS, on September 7, 2007, the council adopted Ordinance 15896, which created a citizen councilor network led by a citizen coordinator, and
WHEREAS, under K.C.C. 1.40.110 (which was Ordinance 15896, Section 12), the citizen councilor coordinator shall seek donations from citizen councilor organizational groups, citizen councilors, individuals, community service organizations, businesses and foundations to help cover the costs of the program, hereafter referred to as "countywide community forums," and
WHEREAS, on October 22, 2007, the council adopted Motion 12616 that authorized the King County executive to accept a donation of twenty thousand dollars from Dick's Drive-Ins, and
WHEREAS, a total of twenty thousand dollars in cash donations from the Dick's Drive-Ins was received and deposited in the citizen councilor fund on October 9, 2007, to start up the program, and
WHEREAS, under K.C.C. 2.80.010, gifts, bequests and donations, of more than two thousand dollars, shall be accepted on behalf of King County by motion of the county council, and
WHEREAS, the Dick's Drive-Ins, Ltd., L.P., is pleased to have the opportunity to show its support for the countywide community forums;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The King County finance and business operations division is authorized to accept
a donation of thirty thousand dollars from Dick's Drive-Ins, Ltd., L.P., for the support of the countywide community forums program.
