WHEREAS, the King County council, via Motion 12617, requested the parks and recreation division review of the potential for the use of solar-powered "cordless compaction system" waste receptacle devices in its maintenance of parks and recreation facilities;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The parks and recreation division of the department of natural resources and parks shall undertake a review of the potential for the use of the solar-powered "cordless compaction system" waste receptacle devices in its maintenance of parks and recreation facilities, and that the review include consideration of any savings in maintenance costs associated with reduced staff waste collection demands, as well as consideration of costs for purchase, maintenance and operation, and for ease of use and integration into current parks maintenance practices; and
      The division shall submit a report to the council by March 20, 2008, on the results of its review, in the form of nine copies filed with the clerk of the council, who shall retain an original and forward copies to each councilmember and the lead staff of the growth management and natural resources committee, or its successor.
