Title
A MOTION granting additional time for the regional policy committee to review legislation adopting the Solid Waste Transfer and Waste Export System Plan.
Body
WHEREAS, Section 270.30 of the King County Charter and K.C.C. 1.24.065.E. establish a one-hundred-twenty-day review period for legislation referred to a regional committee, and
WHEREAS, Proposed Ordinance 2006-0450, adopting the Solid Waste Transfer and Waste Export System Plan, was introduced on October 2, 2006, subsequently reintroduced on February 5, 2007, and rereferred to the regional policy committee, establishing a June 5, 2007, end date for committee review, and
WHEREAS, the regional policy committee has deferred action on the Solid Waste Transfer and Waste Export System Plan pending the King County council's third-party, independent review of the plan as called for by Ordinance 14971, and
WHEREAS, the metropolitan solid waste management advisory committee and the solid waste advisory committee recommend that the regional policy committee defer action on the plan until the King County council's third-party, independent review of the plan is completed, and
WHEREAS, the third-party, independent review is not expected to be completed until mid-June 2007;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The regional policy committee is granted until August 31, 2007, to complete its review of Proposed Ordinance 2006-0450 regarding the Solid Waste Transfer and Waste Export System Plan.
