BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. Findings.
A. The council has identified the need for a consolidated election facility.
B. The facilities management division has entered into negotiations with Unico for a potential location for this facility.
C. Unico has an option to purchase the property.
D. Unico's option expires on March 15, 2007.
E. In order to complete the timely negotiation and execution of the lease it is necessary to adopt this as an emergency ordinance.
SECTION 2. The King County executive is hereby authorized to execute a ten year lease with an option to purchase with Earlington LLC for approximately 94,652 square feet of space located at 919 South West Grady Way in Renton, Washington, substantially in the form of the Lease Agreement attached hereto as Attachment A.
SECTION 3. The appropriate county officials, agents and employees are hereby authorized to take all actions necessary to implement the lease.
SECTION 4. The King County executive is hereby requested to develop options to move the criminal investigations division to the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle.
SECTION 5. The county council finds as a fact and declares that an emergency exists and that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of public peace,
