Title
A MOTION creating the office of law enforcement oversight director recruitment advisory committee to advise the King County council during the council's process to appoint a new director of the office of law enforcement oversight.
Body
WHEREAS, Section 265 of the King County Charter required the council to establish the office of law enforcement oversight ("OLEO") within the legislative branch of King County, and
WHEREAS, in October 2006, the council adopted and the executive signed Ordinance 15611, which codified OLEO under K.C.C. chapter 2.75, and
WHEREAS, the council is in the process of appointing a new director of OLEO through a nationwide search, and
WHEREAS, the director of OLEO shall be appointed by a majority of the council, and
WHEREAS, the council has retained Ralph Anderson & Associates to assist the council during the appointment process, and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.56.250 may exempt records from applicants for public employment from public disclosure, and
WHEREAS, the council seeks input from community members and stakeholders to inform its process to appoint a new director of OLEO;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
A. The office of law enforcement oversight director recruitment advisory committee is established provide input to the council during the process to appoint a new director of OLEO. The duties of the recruitment advisory committee include:
1. Providing input on the candidate profile which Ralph Anderson & Associates will use to describe the director of OLEO position to attract qualified candidates;
2. Interviewing finalist candidates for the position of the director of OLEO as selected by a subcommittee of the employment and administration committee of the council;
3. Providing input about each final candidate to the council based on recruitment advisory committee review of application materials and candidate interviews. The recruitment advisory committee will not rank or score the candidat...
