A MOTION acknowledging receipt of the 2019 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan prepared in accordance with the 2017-2018 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18409, Section 107, Proviso P1.

WHEREAS, the 2017-2018 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 18409, Section 107, Proviso P1, states that $1,000,000 shall not be expended or encumbered until the executive transmits the Solid Waste Comprehensive Plan, and a motion that acknowledges receipt of the plan and the motion is passed by the council, and
WHEREAS, the ordinance requires the plan to include, but not be limited to, a range of strategies to address the disposal of the region's waste, including alternatives to landfilling, and an analysis of the costs and benefits of the respective strategies, and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 18577, which amends Ordinance 18409, requires the plan to address current waste transfer needs in the Northeast area of King County and how those needs are proposed to be met, and
WHEREAS, the executive has transmitted to the council the requested plan and a motion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
Receipt of the 2019 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan, which is referred to as the Solid Waste Comprehensive Plan, submitted as Attachment A to this motion, is hereby acknowledged.
