AN ORDINANCE relating to emergency jail housing; authorizing an emergency jail housing agreement between King County and Snohomish county.

Body

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

                     SECTION 1.  Findings:

                     A.  The King County department of adult and juvenile detention has a need for options to house inmates elsewhere in an emergency situation.

                     B.  A similar ordinance, Ordinance 17977, enacted February 2015, authorized an agreement between King County and Pierce county.

                     C.  The King County department of adult and juvenile detention is working to secure similar agreements across the state in order to have a variety of options to house inmates elsewhere in an emergency situation.
