A MOTION committing to collaboration by King County with 4Culture on an arts, preservation and cultural equity program to promote "one county" and equity and social justice goals.

WHEREAS, King County has adopted a Strategic Plan - "Working Together for One King County," and
WHEREAS, King County has transformed its work on equity and social justice from an initiative to an integrated effort that applies the countywide strategic plan's principle of "fair and just" intentionally in all the county does in order to achieve equitable opportunities for all people, and
WHEREAS, in order to truly become "one county" it is critical to engage all communities in a manner that promotes and fosters trust among people across geographic, race, class and gender lines resulting in more effective policies, processes and services, and
WHEREAS, 4Culture strives to address equity and social justice consistent with the goals of King County, and
WHEREAS, arts, preservation and cultural organizations add to the economic vibrancy of the region including playing a central role in our economy, and benefiting local businesses, residents and tourists, and
WHEREAS, King County and 4Culture have successfully partnered in the creation of the Building for Culture Program, and
WHEREAS, the success of arts, preservation and cultural organizations depends on the ability of all people and all communities to contribute and to the removal of barriers that limit the ability of community members to fulfill their potential; and
WHEREAS, King County and 4Culture recognize that the growing diversity of the population of King County positively creates opportunities for all residents of the county to experience the cultural traditions and forms of expression that are specific to new communities, thereby increasing understanding of our commonalities, not our differences, and
WHEREAS, King County and 4Cuture are jointly committed to furtherance of im...
