Title
A MOTION adopting the 2002 work program for the law, justice and human services committee.
Body
WHEREAS, the law, justice and human services committee is charged with making policy recommendations regarding all county law and justice, public health and human services programs, and
WHEREAS, the program areas assigned to the committee represent over three-quarters of the county's current expense budget, and
WHEREAS, King County is experiencing unprecedented, continuing shortfalls in the current expense fund, and
WHEREAS, the law, justice and human services committee believes the deepening financial problems require an intensive and comprehensive review of policy options and priorities in its assigned areas, and
WHEREAS, the committee has, therefore, developed a work plan for 2002 to facilitate its review of policy options and development of policy recommendations to help deal with these on-going financial problems, and
WHEREAS, the committee is seeking full council involvement in and support for its work program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The law, justice and human services committee's 2002 work program, as attached to this motion, is hereby adopted.
