body
      WHEREAS, the National Sheriffs' Association provides executive management training for sheriffs and their command personnel, and
      WHEREAS, the National Sheriffs' Association, a private nonprofit organization with no contractual relationship with the county, hosted a conference in Nashville, Tennessee, in June 2003, and
      WHEREAS, the National Sheriffs' Association is thoroughly impressed with the services provided by the King County sheriff's office and wishes to support their efforts in this time of tight budgetary concerns, and
      WHEREAS, the National Sheriffs' Association voluntarily, without coercion or inducement, is offering to reimburse all associated costs for attendance by sheriff's office personnel, with an estimated cost of twenty-five hundred dollars, and
      WHEREAS, this donation will legitimately enhance the county's ability to serve in the public's interest and is a general offer to the King County sheriff's office, and
      WHEREAS, this donation is intended neither to influence a particular county action, nor to affect the performance of official duties and responsibilities by King County sheriff's deputies, and
      WHEREAS, King County government is a charitable organization as defined by the federal Internal Revenue Service and King County as an entity can accept gifts;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
