Title
A MOTION acknowledging receipt of a reimagining transit safety and security report, in response to the 2023-24 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 19546, Section 114, Proviso P2.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2023-2024 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 19546, Section 114, Proviso P2, states that $1,000,000 shall not be expended or encumbered until the executive transmits two reports: first, a SaFE reform community ambassador scoping report; and second, a SaFE reform community ambassador results report, and the proviso further requires that each report should be accompanied by a motion that should acknowledge receipt of the applicable report, and
WHEREAS, the 2023-2023 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 19546, Section 114, Proviso P2, further states that upon passage of each motion required under that proviso, $500,000 is released for encumbrance or expenditure, and
WHEREAS, the Metro transit department, the Puget Sound region's largest public transportation agency, is committed to providing safe, equitable and sustainable mobility, and
WHEREAS, the Metro transit department is committed to becoming an antiracist mobility agency, and
WHEREAS, consistent with the 2023-2024 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 19546, Section 114, Proviso P2, the King County executive has transmitted to the council a SaFE reform community ambassador scoping report;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
The council acknowledges receipt of the SaFE reform community ambassador scoping report proviso response, Attachment A to this motion.
