WHEREAS, King County has acquired four hundred eighteen acres of undeveloped and developed land along the county's largest river system, and
WHEREAS, the land surrounding the confluence of the three branches of the Snoqualmie river outside North Bend and Snoqualmie is a fragile riparian area deserving preservation for the benefit of current and future citizens of King County, and
WHEREAS, the Three Forks Natural Area is a strategically located wildlife corridor connecting the Cedar River Watershed, Rattlesnake Mountain Scenic Area and the Mt. Si Natural Resource Conservation Area, and
WHEREAS, three of King County's park and recreation's trails, the Snoqualmie Valley, Preston-Snoqualmie and Snoqualmie Valley Trail Extension, converge at Three Forks Natural Area, and
WHEREAS, King County has appropriated funds to prepare a master plan for this natural area, and
WHEREAS, King County parks and recreation prepared, and the council has adopted Motion 9925, the park program plan for Three Forks Natural Area, and
WHEREAS, the department of construction and facilities management has prepared a master plan for the natural area based upon the adopted park program plan, and
WHEREAS, King County has held over seven public meetings and solicited public comments, during the formulation of the master plan, and
WHEREAS, the master plan interweaves the conscious stewardship of the scenic and natural resources of the site with the needs and desires of the community and King County, and
WHEREAS, the master plan divides the site into land classification units established in the King County park comprehensive plan, including: A. natural areas; B. passive recreation areas; C. special management habitat preservation areas; and D. staging areas (parking), and
WHEREAS, some limited portions of Three Forks Natural Area has been in greenchop production in support of King Count...
