WHEREAS, the 2015/2016 Biennial Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 17941, Section 85, Proviso P1, states that $250,000 of the appropriation to the department of permitting and environmental review's general public services unit shall not be expended or encumbered until the executive transmits a report detailing the results of a process evaluation focused on streamlining the code enforcement and abatement processes, identifying process improvements and efficiencies and identifying cost savings that can be used to provide code enforcement and abatement services consistent with historic levels by October 1, 2015, and
WHEREAS, the attached report was developed by the department of permitting and environmental review in cooperation with the office of performance, strategy and budget and the prosecuting attorney's office, and
WHEREAS, the attached report contains the results of a process evaluation focused on streamlining the code enforcement and abatement processes, in order to shorten the time from initial complaint through resolution with an emphasis on improving the experience for affected property owners, tenants and neighbors, and
WHEREAS, the attached report identifies process improvements and efficiencies through operational or code changes, and
WHEREAS, the attached report identifies cost savings that can be used to provide code enforcement and abatement services consistent with historic levels;
