A MOTION approving the rules to administer K.C.C. chapter 4.19 for a program to promote the use of small economically disadvantaged businesses on county contracts.

      WHEREAS, King County is in a position to create important incentives to use small economically disadvantaged businesses through its many contracting opportunities, and
      WHEREAS, equity is served by enhancing opportunities for small economically disadvantaged business owners who pursue relevant technical and entrepreneurial training to improve their business acumen, and
      WHEREAS, the success of small economically disadvantaged businesses is important to the overall economy of the Puget Sound region and social mobility in the county, and
      WHEREAS, a successful and strong small business community is an integral component for job creation, community empowerment and economic revitalization, and
      WHEREAS, it is in the interest of King County to ensure that small economically disadvantaged businesses have opportunities to compete and be selected for its contracting opportunities, and
      WHEREAS, King County recognizes working with a diversified pool of businesses maximizes the potential for all businesses, and
      WHEREAS, King County is committed to expanding access to small economically disadvantaged businesses to its contracting opportunities;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The King County council, hereby approves Attachment A to this motion, which is the rules to administer K.C.C. chapter 4.19 for a program under which the county and its
 
contractors have incentives to use small economically disadvantaged businesses on county contracts.
