Title
A MOTION in support of the Men's Network Against Domestic Violence.
Body
      WHEREAS, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages fifteen and fifty-four, and
      WHEREAS, nearly one in three women experience at least one physical assault by an intimate partner, and
      WHEREAS, domestic violence includes any form of coercion to control an intimate partner, including emotional, physical or sexual violence, and
      WHEREAS, men commit ninety-five percent of all domestic violence, and
      WHEREAS, domestic violence prevents children, women and men from achieving fully healthy and productive lives, and
      WHEREAS, men can work to stop domestic violence in the workplace, community and home, and
      WHEREAS, the Men's Network Against Domestic Violence is inviting all men, especially community leaders and elected officials, to publicly take the Pledge against domestic violence at a public event this Father's Day:
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      That we support the efforts of the Men's Network Against Domestic Violence to end domestic violence in our community, endorse the Community Leaders Pledge event
 
organized by the Network for this Father's Day, and encourage all men to take the Pledge against domestic violence.
