Title
AN ORDINANCE relating to restrictions on the use of internal combustion engines on Lake Geneva; and adding a new section to K.C.C. chapter 12.44.
Body
PREAMBLE:
This ordinance, prohibiting the use of internal combustion engines on Lake Geneva, is consistent with previous ordinances adopting similar restrictions on other lakes within King County. These ordinances were passed with the intent to improve the environmental conditions of the affected lakes while ensuring the safe use of these recreational resources and preserving the peace by reducing noise levels associated with the operation of marine internal combustion engines.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. There is hereby added to K.C.C. chapter 12.44 a new section to read as follows:
It is unlawful to use or operate any internal combustion engine on Lake Geneva, legally defined as all the water of Lake Geneva located within Section 22, Township 21 North, Range 4 East, W.M., in King County, Washington, though nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent any public official or construction company from performing authorized duties. The department of natural resources and parks shall have the responsibility of posting and maintaining appropriate signs.
