Title

A MOTION authorizing strategic coordination to purchase real property for flood protection purposes within the Cedar River Watershed.

Body

                     WHEREAS, consistent with Chapter 86.15 RCW, the King County Flood Control Zone District acquires real property necessary to support the District’s flood water and stormwater control purposes, and

                     WHEREAS, the District adopts the annual budget and associated work plan to identify and authorize the funding and implementation of flood prevention efforts, including those with multiple benefits, throughout King County, and

                     WHEREAS, consistent with the adopted budget and work plan, the District has identified real property located at 18825 SE Renton-Maple Valley Road, referred to as Lakeside Properties (the "Property"), the purchase of which would support the District’s efforts within the Cedar River Watershed through the Cedar Preconstruction Acquisition line item, and

                     WHEREAS, the District desires to authorize the Executive Director to work with King County to identify a strategy to purchase the property, including but not limited to the potential use of funding through Conservation Futures;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED BY THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE KING COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL ZONE DISTRICT:

                     SECTION 1.  The Executive Director of the King County Flood Control Zone District is authorized to work with King County to identify a strategy to purchase the property, including but not limited to the potential use of funding through Conservation Futures.
