A MOTION confirming the executive's appointment of David Chapman as defense bar representative to the drug treatment advisory panel.

      WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 4(6) of Second Substitute House Bill 2338, each county shall create a panel to submit a plan for disposition of all funds provided within the criminal justice treatment account within that county, and
      WHEREAS, the membership of this panel shall include the county alcohol and drug coordinator (Jim Vollendroff), prosecutor (Norm Maleng), county sheriff (Dave Reichert), county superior court (Judge Laura Inveen), a substance abuse treatment provider appointed by the county legislative authority, a member of the criminal defense bar appointed by the county legislative authority, and in counties with a drug court, a representative of the drug court (Mary Taylor); all named individuals approved by the Criminal Justice Council;
      WHEREAS the drug treatment advisory panel has selected David Chapman to be the member of the criminal defense bar, and
      WHEREAS, the appointment of the defense bar representative must be submitted through the county legislative authority for confirmation;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The county executive's appointment of David Chapman, director of the Associated Counsel for the Accused, as defense bar representative, as the panel deems otherwise, is hereby confirmed.
