      WHEREAS, King County has a history of leadership on climate change mitigation and early adoption of cutting-edge clean vehicle technologies and fuels, and
      WHEREAS, in Motion 12362, the King County council asked the King County executive and departments to work with other local and regional governments through cooperative intergovernmental frameworks to:  develop model plans and actions to meet climate change mitigation goals; establish intergovernmental initiatives to fight climate change; and provide toolkits for local governments based on King County's leadership on climate change action, and
      WHEREAS, in the 2007 King County Climate Plan, the King County executive asked King County departments to work with local, regional and state government to:  develop regional consensus on how to meet climate change stabilization goals; purchase and use clean and renewable fuels and efficient transportation technologies; and invest in education and outreach strategies to raise awareness and build engagement on how to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions, and
      WHEREAS, a number of local, regional and state government entities wish to donate funds to King County for the purpose of hosting a conference focused on the development of a clean vehicle industry, in the name of meeting climate change goals in this region, in which the transportation sector is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, and
      WHEREAS, members of the general public, fleet managers and companies focused on the development of a clean vehicle industry have sought to participate as attendees and exhibitors at a King County clean vehicle conference, paying a one-time fee to cover the costs of the conference, and
      WHEREAS, the department of transportation fleet administration division would like to accept the sponsorship donations from local, regional and state government entities as well as cost coverage fees from participants and exhibitors, all totaling $56,800, for purposes of hosting a clean vehicle conference;
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
      The department of transportation fleet administration division is authorized to accept a total of $56,800, in sponsorship funds from the Washington state Department of Ecology, Snohomish county, Pierce county, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, the cities of Auburn, Bellevue, Bothell, Des Moines, Everett, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kenmore, Kent, Kirkland, Lake Forest Park, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Normandy Park, Redmond, Renton, Seattle, Shoreline, Snoqualmie, Tukwila and Woodinville and Puget Sound Clean Cities, in one-time cost-coverage exhibit fees from Austin Energy, Ballard Biofuels, Ballard Power, CCG/Faster, Clean Energy Fuels, USEPA, Flexcar, General Motors, Green Car Company, Honda Auto Center of Bellevue, MC Electric Vehicles, Modec Limited, PEXT International, Segway of Seattle, Sunergy Systems, Vectrix and
