A MOTION confirming the appointment of Aaron Parker as director of the community corrections division  
within the department of adult and juvenile detention.  
Andy Micklow, Council staff, briefed the committee. Allen Nance, Director,  
Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention, addressed the committee. Aaron Parker,  
Division Director Designee, Community Corrections Division, Department of Adult and  
Juvenile Detention; addressed the committee and answered questions from the  
members.  
A motion was made by Barón that this Motion be Recommended Do Pass  
Consent. The motion carried by the following vote:

A MOTION appointing a qualified person to a vacant position on the fire district No. 47 board of  
commissioners.  
Sherrie Hsu, Council staff, briefed the committee. Candidates Ryan Beniasch and  
Mkristo Bruce addressed the committee and answered questions from the members.  
The chair recessed the meeting into executive session under RCW 42.30.110(h) at  
10:21 a.m. for 10 minutes for the purpose of evaluating the qualifications of a  
candidate for appointment to elective office. The meeting returned to regular session  
at 10:31 a.m.  
Councilmember Dunn made an oral amendment to place the name of Mkristo Bruce on  
the blank space on line 20 of the motion. The amendment was adopted.  
This matter was expedited to the February 25, 2025, Council agenda.  
A motion was made by Dunn that this Motion be Recommended Do Pass  
Substitute Consent. The motion carried by the following vote:

A MOTION relating to public transportation, requesting the executive to engage on a task force on transit  
safety and security to address public safety on transit and in the communities in which the Metro transit  
department operates.  
Mary Bourguignon, Council staff, briefed the committee. Deanna Martin, Chief of  
Staff, Metro Transit Department, answered questions from the members.  
Councilmember Dunn moved striking amendment S1. Chair Balducci offered a friendly  
amendment to add "and the King County Council" on line 34 following "Union, Local  
587". The friendly amendment was accepted. The striking amendment as amended  
was adopted. Councilmember Dunn moved title amendment T1. The amendment was  
adopted.  
This matter was expedited to the March 4, 2025, Council agenda.  
A motion was made by Dunn that this Motion be Recommended Do Pass

David Hacket, General Counsel, Executive's Office, addressed the committee. Dwight  
Dively, Director, Office of Performance, Strategy and Budget, briefed the committee  
and answered questions from the members.  
The chair recessed the meeting into executive session under RCW 42.30.110(h) at  
12:05 p.m. for 10 minutes for the purpose of discussing with legal counsel the legal  
risks of a proposed action to which the county is or is likely to become a party when  
public knowledge regarding the discussion is likely to result in an adverse legal or  
financial consequence to the county.. The executive session was extended for 5  
minutes. The meeting returned to regular session at 12:20 p.m.
