Call to Order
The Special Meeting of the Regional Transit Committee was called to order at 3:14 p.m. by Rob
McKenna, Chair, in the Metropolitan King County Council Chambers, 10th Floor, King County
Courthouse.
 
Roll Call
Present: Mr. McKenna, Mr. Pelz, Mr. Irons, Ms. Lambert, Ms. Patterson, Mr. Gerend, Ms. Plackett,
Mr. Putter, Ms. Schewendiman, Mr. Spencer, Mr. Conlin, Ms. Wills, Mr. Butler, Mr. Fletcher and
Ms. Carter
Excused: Ms. Sullivan, Ms. Gates, Mr. White and Mr. Wilson
 
Approval of Minutes - May 29, 2002
1.
The minutes of the May 29, 2002 Special Meeting of the Regional Transit Committee were approved.
2. Chair's Report
Mr. McKenna:
- announced that the memorial service for Deputy Herzog was scheduled for Thursday, June 27.
- gave an update on Councilmember Mary Gates' medical condition.
- announced that the Metropolitan King County Council approved a sixty-day extension for the
Regional Transit Committee to review the Six-Year Transit Development Plan for 2002-2007. The
new deadline for voting on and forwarding the plan to the Metropolitan King County Council is
August 10.
- announced the following schedule for review of the Six-Year Transit Development Plan for
2002-2007: July 9 to discuss amendments, July 17 to vote on amendments and final approval of the
plan with a meeting on July 18 if the committee is not able to finish its work on July 17.

3. Vice Chair's Report
There was no report by the Vice Chair.
4. General Manager's Report
There was no report by the General Manager.
5. Announcements
Mr. Putter offered comments about Deputy Herzog.
6. Public Comment
The following people appeared before the committee to offer public comment:

Proposed Ordinance No. 2002-0074 Mr. Pelz and Mr. McKenna
AN ORDINANCE relating to public transportation; amending the Comprehensive Plan for
Public Transportation ratified by Ordinance 11032, Section 28, as amended by Ordinance
12060; and adopting the Six-Year Transit Development Plan for 2002-2007.
Arthur Thornbury, Committee Staff, briefed the committee on issues and strategies relating to the
financial policies, scheduled maintenance, operating subsidy allocation and public involvement in
transit planning. The members discussed ideas for possible amendments to the Six-Year Transit
Development Plan for 2002-2007. Victor Obeso, Senior Transit Planner, Service Implementation
Group, Eric Gleason, Supervisor, Service Implementation Group and Duncan Mitchell, Supervisor,
Transit Budget and Finance, responded to questions from the members.
