Reports on Special and Outside Committees | ||||
2. | ||||
Ms. Patterson reported on the South County Area Transportation Board meeting of August 20, 2002.
The Board discussed the Regional Transportation Investment District and came up with its recommendations to make to the RTID regarding its transit and road projects. The Board discussed a response to a letter written by Mr. Pelz and also had a good discussion regarding Referendum 51. Ms. Paterson thanked Mr. McKenna for his attendance. Mr. Irons reported on the Four Creeks Unincorporated Area Council meeting and indicated the major item of discussion was health and the West Nile Virus. He indicated the Four Creeks area citizens were very concerned. Information is being put together regarding some long term solutions. Ms. Edmonds briefed the Council on the Board of Health Budget Workshop. She indicated the members had a very good budget discussion and will be submitting additional information regarding fee increases. Ms. Edmonds confirmed for the Chair that the subjects of tuberculosis and the youth immunization program will be discussed at the Board's next meeting. Mr. Gossett reported on the Criminal Justice Council. All the agencies involved were asked to come up with a specific implementation plan for the adult justice operational master plan. A preliminary draft for the proposal was presented. Mr. Pelz reported on the Regional Transportation Investment District Executive Committee meeting. The committee discussed the development of a project list to meet a timeline for the May ballot. He indicated it was predicated on a three tenths increase in sales tax, a $75.00 vehicle license fee and a two tenths increase to pay for HOV. The committee is moving forward to developing a project list by November 14. Mr. McKenna added that King County has a bigger project list than there is funding for, and all of the projects have to go through a screening process. Each project has to be evaluated for its affect in addressing traffic congestion, reducing travel time, improving air quality, safety and a number of other criteria. That evaluation process will launch this month and will help the decision making in reducing the size of the list to fit within available revenues. The committee hopes to have the results by the next Executive Board meeting on September 12. |
