Special Items

Presentation of a Recognition of David Olson, retiring Professor of Political Science at the |
|
University of Washington, for his distinguished career. |
|
Mr. Constantine invited Professor Olson and his family to the podium. He made remarks about |
|
Professor Olson's career and service to the community. He read the recognition and presented it to |
|
Professor Olson. Professor Olson thanked the Council, introduced his wife Sandra and daughter |
|
Maia Peterson, as well as his guests in attendance. |
|
Presentation of a Recognition of Joe McGeehan, retiring Superintendent of Highline School |
|
District, for his contributions to the school district. |
|
Ms. Patterson invited Councilmembers Constantine and von Reichbauer to join her at the podium to |
|
present the recognition. She made remarks about Mr. McGeehan's forty-three years of service. She |
|
invited Mr. McGeehan to the podium while she and Councilmember Constantine read the |
|
recognition. Ms. Hague presented the recognition to Mr. McGeehan. Mr. McGeehan thanked the |
|
Council. |
Reports on Special and Outside Committees

Ms. Edmonds reported on the Seattle North King County Transportation Board Forum. She |
|
indicated the major topic discussed was Sound Transit Phase II planning. Ms. Edmonds also |
|
indicated that many of the projects being considered with regard to Sound Transit planning connect |
|
with Snohomish County, and the Forum may have a joint meeting to discuss some of these issues. |
|
The Forum also had a briefing from Chris Picard from the Washington State Department of |
|
Transportation regarding projects in King County. |
