Proclaiming January as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Month in King County | ||||
Executive Ron Sims and Councilmember Gossett joined the Chair in proclaiming January as Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Month in King County. Mr. Gossett and Executive Sims paid tribute to Dr. King and began reading the proclamation. Executive Sims asked the remainder of the Council to each read a portion of it. |

Presentation of a Recognition to the Seattle University Men's Soccer Team for Becoming the
NCAA Division II Champions |

Mr. von Reichbauer thanked President Sundborg, faculty and staff of Seattle University for being in
attendance for the presentation. He indicated that some of the students on the team are from the Federal Way and Kent areas. He particularly acknowledged team member Jeff Stock, who previously was an intern in Mr. von Reichbauer's office. Mr. von Reichbauer read the recognition. Father Sundborg thanked the Council and commented on Seattle University's accomplishments. Coach Peter Fewing thanked the Council. He also acknowledged the presence of University Vice President Tim Leary. One of the students spoke about what it felt like to win the championship. He also thanked the Council. |

Ms. Patterson reported on the Regional Transportation Investment District Executive Board. The
members approved to have a joint meeting with the Puget Sound Regional Council next month to discuss what the two boards have in common so that they don't duplicate their efforts. Ms. Patterson referred to other transportation entities that are adopting legislative agendas. The Executive Board discussed adopting a similar legislative agenda. Mr. Irons added that the members discussed its 2005 work plan and budget. The members will have a Planning Committee meeting in the future to fill Mr. McKenna's seat on the Executive Board. Ms. Edmonds reported on the Board of Health and its discussion regarding code mergers. The members had briefings on the methadone clinic in King County, the upcoming legislative session and priorities for the Department of Health, and the implementation of the bike helmet law. |
