Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m.

Present: Ms. Patterson, Mr. Constantine, Mr. Irons and Mr. Pelz
Excused: Ms. Hague
 
Approval of Minutes
1.
The minutes of the June 8, 2004 meeting were approved as presented.
Discussion and Possible Action
 
Mike Alvine, Council Staff, briefed the committee on Items #2 and #3 together.

Nancy Buonanno Grennan, Manager, Labor Relations, Department of Executive Services (DES),
Betty Sorbo, Business Representative, Teamsters, Local 117, Don Theiler, Manager, Wastewater
Treatment Divsion (WTD), and Terri Hansen, Labor Negotiator, Labor Relations, DES, answered
questions from the members. Mr. Theiler distributed copies of "Table of Peer Recommendations" to
the members (copy on file in Committee Legislation Files 2004-0257 and 2004-0258).

Proposed Ordinance No. 2004-0257 Ms. Patterson and Mr. Phillips
AN ORDINANCE approving and adopting the collective bargaining agreement negotiated
by and between King County and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 117
(Wastewater Treatment Division, Professional & Technical and Administrative Support)
representing employees in the department of natural resources and parks; and establishing
the effective date of said agreement.
A motion was made by Mr. Irons that this matter be Recommended Do Pass. The motion
carried by the following vote:
Votes:
Yes: 4 - Ms. Patterson, Mr. Constantine, Mr. Irons and Mr. Pelz
No: 0
Excused: 1 - Ms. Hague
 
3.
Proposed Ordinance No. 2004-0258 Ms. Patterson and Mr. Phillips
AN ORDINANCE approving and adopting the collective bargaining agreement negotiated
by and between King County and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 117
(Wastewater Treatment Division, Supervisors) representing employees of the department of
natural resources and parks; and establishing the effective date of said agreement.
A motion was made by Mr. Irons that this matter be Recommended Do Pass. The motion
carried by the following vote:

Yes: 4 - Ms. Patterson, Mr. Constantine, Mr. Irons and Mr. Pelz
No: 0
Excused: 1 - Ms. Hague
 
4.
Proposed Ordinance No. 2004-0260 Ms. Patterson and Mr. Phillips
AN ORDINANCE approving and adopting the collective bargaining agreement negotiated
by and between King County and International Federation of Professional and Technical
Engineers, Local 17 (Professional & Technical, Interest Arbitration - Department of
Transportation, Metro Transit Division) representing employees in the department of
transportation and establishing the effective date of said agreement.
Mike Alvine, Council Staff, briefed the committee. David Levin, Labor Negotiator, Labor Relations,
DES, Paulette Avalos, Labor Representative, IFPTE, Local 17, Steve Coffing, Member, Teamsters
Local 117, and Tim Apicella, Member, Teamsters Local 117, answered questions from the members.

A motion was made by Mr. Irons that this matter be Recommended Do Pass. The motion
carried by the following vote:
Votes:
Yes: 4 - Ms. Patterson, Mr. Constantine, Mr. Irons and Mr. Pelz
No: 0
Excused: 1 - Ms. Hague
 
Other Business
There was no further business to come before the committee.
 
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
