AN ORDINANCE adopting the February 2012 public transportation service reductions for King County.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:
1. The transit service changes proposed for February 2012 include changes to low productivity routes throughout King County.
2. The February 2012 proposed transit service change involves the reduction of approximately one hundred thousand annual service hours.
3. The transit service changes proposed for February 2012 are consistent with adopted plan and budget priorities, as well as the recommendations of the regional transit task force.
4. The reduction of the King County Metro transit system by one hundred thousand annual service hours in February 2012 is the initial step towards the reduction of up to five hundred thousand annual service hours that will be needed during the 2012-2013 biennium to reduce the King County Metro transit system to a size that is sustainable given projected revenues.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The February 2012 public transportation service reductions for King County, substantially as described in Attachment A to this ordinance, are hereby approved. These changes to the King County Metro transit public transportation services will be implemented effective February 18, 2012.
SECTION 2. The executive shall identify a phasing plan for a total reduction of another up to six hundred thousand annual service hours describing the number of service
hours to be reduced by service change during 2012 and 2013 to be included in the 2012-2013 biennium budget.
