A MOTION acknowledging receipt of a report on the equitable distribution of the historical preservation and historical programs fund throughout King County in 2011 in accordance with Ordinance 16984, Section 100, Proviso P1, and requesting follow-up on the report.

WHEREAS, Ordinance 16984, Section 100, Proviso P1 requested that the department of natural resources and parks submit a report identifying how the King County historic preservation program will use its best effort to expend funding received from the historical preservation and historical programs fund with equitable geographic distribution of historic preservation program resources among council districts, and
WHEREAS, the proviso provided that distribution of resources could include, but was not limited to, any combination of staff time, activities, services or direct expenditure of funds, and
WHEREAS, the executive transmitted to the council the report and motion required by the proviso by the due date of March 1, 2011, and
WHEREAS, the report identified the historic preservation program's plan regarding distribution of its resources countywide,
WHEREAS, the historic preservation program 2011 work plan shows that the program will not achieve an equal distribution of staff time between council districts in 2011, and
WHEREAS, the proviso response acknowledged that much of the work that the historic preservation program performs when approached by those interested in assistance, and
WHEREAS, the council seeks to ensure that the historic preservation program will actively pursue a more equal distribution of resources between council districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
A. The executive has responded to the 2011 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 16984, Section 100, Proviso P1. The council hereby acknowledges receipt of the Equitable Distribution of Historical Preservation and Historical Programs Fund report, Attachment A to this motion.
