Title
A MOTION authorizing the chair of the council to enter into amendment No. 2 of the contract T02739T, oversight of the construction of the Ninth and Jefferson Building at Harborview Medical Center.
Body
WHEREAS, the metropolitan King County council adopted the 2007 Budget Ordinance, Ordinance 15652, appropriating funds for a pilot project within the King County auditor's office to provide independent and expert oversight of King County's major capital construction projects, and
WHEREAS, the King County auditor's office was mandated to manage the pilot capital project oversight function and wishes to retain a consulting firm with expertise in capital projects management and oversight, and
WHEREAS, after a competitive procurement process, Jones Lang LaSalle was selected as a winning proposer and the contract T02739T was executed in June 2007, and
WHEREAS, per amendment #1, the contract's duration is from June 2007 to June 30, 2008, and the total contract amount is sixty thousand dollars, and
WHEREAS, the auditor's office is satisfied with the oversight being provided by Jones Lang LaSalle , and wishes to extend the contract duration and increase the compensation accordingly, and
WHEREAS, the King County auditor's office sought and received a waiver from standard procurement procedures in order to extend the expiration date and include additional compensation past the original contract expiration date to continue consulting services from the Jones Lang LaSalle team because they are uniquely qualified to assist King County auditor's office and additional time was needed to confirm the scope of continued oversight on the project and to negotiate the terms of the amendment, and
WHEREAS, Motion 10651, Section III, as amended, and OR 1-020 requires the council to authorize the council chair to sign any contracts in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars in the legislative branch;
