Title
A MOTION appointing Matthew P. Carroll to a vacant position on the Skykomish Town Council.
Body
WHEREAS, the Skykomish Town Council is made up of five positions, with members each serving four-year terms, and
WHEREAS, Position 3 on the Skykomish Town Council is currently vacant, and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.12.070 describes the process for filling a vacancy on local governing bodies, and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.12.070 provides that, in case of a vacancy, remaining members shall appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy within ninety days of the date that the vacancy occurs, and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.12.070 provides further that, if the local governing body does not fill the vacancy within ninety days, its authority to fill the vacancy ceases, and the county legislative authority is to appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy, and
WHEREAS, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Skykomish Town Council has not filled the town council vacancy within the specified ninety-day period, and
WHEREAS, the Skykomish Town Council has now identified, evaluated and recommended Matthew P. Carroll for consideration by the King County council to fill the Town Council vacancy, and
WHEREAS, Matthew P. Carroll currently serves as the Business Manager and President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 89, and
WHEREAS, Matthew P. Carroll's experience includes service with the Sky Valley Youth Football Association, the Sky Valley Little League, the Monroe Community Corrections Network, the Monroe School District Alternative High School Advisory Committee and a number of Monroe School District bond committees, and
WHEREAS, Matthew P. Carroll has in the past held professional licenses related to real estate and insurance services and served as a Washington State Certified Flagging Instructor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
