AN ORDINANCE regarding The Transit Service Funding Agreement with the city of Seattle; amending the agreement to extend the term to June 30, 2021.

STATEMENT OF FACTS:

1.  In February 2015, Ordinance 17978 was enacted, approving The Transit Service Funding Agreement between King County and the city of Seattle.

2.  On March 8, 2015, King County and the city of Seattle entered into a Transit Service Funding Agreement.

3.  The original term was set to expire December 31, 2017.

4.  Section 4 of the agreement provides that Metro transit division's manager and the Seattle Department of Transportation ("SDOT") Director may extend the agreement for up to three years without additional approval by the King County council.

5.  In December 2017, transit division and SDOT executed an amendment to extend the agreement until June 30, 2018.

6.  In June 2018, department of transportation and SDOT executed another amendment to extend the agreement until December 31, 2020, which is three years from the initial expiration date.

7.  The parties desire to extend the agreement an additional six months, until June 30, 2021, with the requisite approval by the King County council.

                     BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

                     SECTION 1.  Amendment No. 5 to the Transit Service Funding Agreement by

and between King County and the city of Seattle, in substantially the form as described in Attachment A to this ordinance, is hereby approved.
