Title
A MOTION appointing James McCarthy to a vacant position on the Town of Beaux Arts Village Town Council.
Body
WHEREAS, the Town of Beaux Arts Village Town Council has five member positions, with serving members participating as volunteers for four-year terms, and
WHEREAS, Council Position #2 is currently vacant, and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.12.070 describes the process for filling a vacancy on local governing bodies, and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.12.070 provides that, in case of a vacancy, remaining members shall appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy within ninety days of the date that the vacancy occurs, and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.12.070 provides further that, if the governing body does not fill the vacancy within ninety days, its authority to fill the vacancy ceases, and the county legislative authority is to appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy, and
WHEREAS, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Town of Beaux Arts Village Town Council has not filled the council vacancy within the specified ninety-day period, and
WHEREAS, the Town of Beaux Arts Village Town Council has identified, interviewed and evaluated James McCarthy for consideration by the King County council to fill the vacancy, and
WHEREAS, Mr. McCarthy has been a resident of Beaux Arts Village for over four years and is currently a member of the Town Planning Commission, and
WHEREAS Mr. McCarthy graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in economics, has worked as a management consultant and is currently a real estate broker, and
WHEREAS, the Town of Beaux Arts Village Town Council passed a motion recommending James McCarthy to the Council Position #2;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:
In accordance with RCW 42.12.070, and after considering the background of the candidate and the recommendation of the Town of Beaux Arts Village Town Council, the
King County council hereby appoints James McCarthy to fill Council Position #2...
