Title

A MOTION authorizing a position description for the King County Flood Control District's chief engineer.

Body

                     WHEREAS, chapter 86.15 RCW authorizes the King County council to initiate the creation of special purpose flood control zone districts for the purpose of undertaking, operating, or maintaining flood control projects or storm water control projects, among other powers, and

                     WHEREAS, in 2007, the county created the King County Flood Control District ("the district"), governed by a board of supervisors ("the board"), and

                     WHEREAS, up to September 2016, the district was run day-to-day by one employee of the district, its executive director, and

                     WHEREAS, in September 2016, the staffing for the district was transferred to a flood control district administration unit, established in legislative branch for its employees to exclusively provide support for the district, and

                     WHEREAS, in accordance with OR 3-035.C. of the council's organizational motion compilation, job descriptions and classifications for employees in the district administrative unit are to be authorized by motion by the council, and

                     WHEREAS, the district's executive committee has reviewed the chief engineer position description;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The council authorizes the position description for chief engineer within the King County Flood Control District administration unit, which is Attachment A to this motion.
