Title

A MOTION approving the third extension of the executive's appointment of James Chan as acting director of the King County department of permitting and environmental review.

Body

                     WHEREAS, James Chan was appointed in an acting capacity as the director of permitting and environmental review by the county executive on December 15, 2017, and

                     WHEREAS, the council approved Motion 15172, the first extension of James Chan as the acting director through July 13, 2018, and Motion xxxxx (Proposed Motion 2018-xxxx), the second extension through September 12, 2018, and

                     WHEREAS, the county is currently undergoing a reorganization of executive departments and is forming the department of local services and the permitting division, which is anticipated to be complete by December 31, 2018, and

                     WHEREAS, continuation of departmental leadership is necessary on an interim basis to provide consistency until the department of local services is created and the permitting division is established within the department, and

                     WHEREAS, the extension of this acting director appointment is the third of four extensions, extending from September 13, 2018, through November 12, 2018;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The third extension of the executive's appointment of James Chan as acting director of the department of permitting and environmental review is hereby approved for a succeeding period through November 12, 2018.
