title

AN ORDINANCE approving September 2018 public transportation service changes for King County.

body

STATEMENT OF FACTS:

1.  The proposed changes to Metro's fixed route transit network include changes that affect service in the cities of Bellevue, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Renton, Sammamish, Shoreline and Seattle.

2.  The proposed changes are consistent with the policy direction and priorities adopted in Ordinance 18301, enacted June 16, 2016, in the 2015 update to King County Metro's Strategic Plan for Public Transportation 2011-2021 and associated Service Guidelines.

3.  Metro's adopted 2017-2018 budget includes funding to add service to corridors throughout King County that are currently below the target service levels set by Metro's Service Guidelines.

4.  The proposed service changes would add service on routes operating in corridors served below their target service levels in the King County Metro 2016 System Evaluation Report.

5.  Construction of the East Link Light Rail Extension will permanently close the Rainier Freeway Station at Rainier Avenue South and I-90 in Seattle, requiring changes to all routes that currently serve these stops or operate on this part of I-90.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KING COUNTY:

SECTION 1.  The September 2018 public transportation service changes for King County, substantially as described in Attachment A to this ordinance, are hereby approved and shall be implemented effective September 22, 2018.
