Title

A MOTION appointing committees to write the voters' pamphlet statements for and against Proposition 1 placed on the ballot by Ordinance 18555 for the November 7, 2017, election.

Body

                     WHEREAS, K.C.C. chapter 1.10 provides for the publication and distribution of local voters' pamphlets in conformity with chapter 29A.32 RCW for annual general elections held in King County, and

                     WHEREAS, RCW 29A.32.280 provides that for each measure from a unit of local government that is included in a local voters' pamphlet, the legislative authority of that jurisdiction shall formally appoint a committee to prepare arguments advocating voter approval of the measure and a committee to prepare arguments advocating voter rejection of the measure, and

                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 18555, adopted on July 20, 2017, provided for submission to the voters at the November 7, 2017, special election of a proposition authorizing a property tax levy in excess of the levy limitations contained in chapter 84.55 RCW for a consecutive six-year period at a rate of note more than ten cents per one thousand dollars of assessed valuation in the first year, and limiting annual levy increases to three and one-half percent in the five succeeding years, and

                     WHEREAS, if approved by voters, the levy proceeds will be used for the purpose of supporting veterans and military servicemembers and their respective families; seniors and their caregivers; and vulnerable populations in King County by funding capital facilities and regional health and human services to promote housing stability, healthy living, financial stability, social engagement and health and human services system improvements and system access; and providing for mitigation of prorationing of metropolitan park districts and fire districts levies to the extent the prorationing was caused by this levy;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

Pursuant to RCW 29A.32.280, the following individuals are appointed to serve on the voters' pamphlet committees for Proposition 1 placed on the ballot by Ordinance 18555, each committee to write a statement for or against the proposed amendment, for the November 7, 2017, special election:
