Title

A MOTION related to the King County board of appeals and equalization; approving convening of the board as authorized by RCW 84.48.010 due to the increase in the number of appeals.

Body

                     WHEREAS, the chair of the King County board of appeals and equalization has informed the council that for the 2016 assessment year four thousand three hundred appeals were filed, which exceeds ten percent of the number of appeals filed in 2015, and

                     WHEREAS, RCW 84.48.010 authorizes the board to convene at any time with the approval of the county legislative authority when petitions exceed ten percent of the number of appeals filed in the preceding year, and

                     WHEREAS convening of the board is necessary to resolve all 2016 appeals;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The council approves of the board of appeals and equalization convening to consider and resolve appeals from the 2016 assessment year.
