Title

A MOTION relating to the rules of the King County hearing examiner.

Body

                     WHEREAS, the adopted rules of procedure and the rules of mediation under which the hearing examiner currently conducts hearings have not been updated since 1995, and

                     WHEREAS, in 2016 the county adopted new King County code provisions related to the hearing examiner office, and

                     WHEREAS, to increase the efficiency and transparency of the hearing examiner process, as well as to better coordinate with the recent code changes, the hearing examiner proposes to the council new rules for conducting the hearing examiner process that will replace the current rules, and

                     WHEREAS, the hearing examiner has complied with the notice requirements in K.C.C. 20.22.330 and the comment period has passed, and

                     WHEREAS, under K.C.C. 20.22.330, the King County council must approve any rule or amendment by motion;

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT MOVED by the Council of King County:

                     The Rules of Procedure and Mediation of the King County Hearing Examiner, contained in Attachment A to this motion, are hereby adopted.
